About Me: Mapping the Unreal

The Moment the World Shifted

For years, I traveled the way we were all taught to: with a checklist in one hand and a camera in the other. I saw the famous temples, I ate the “must-try” street food, and I stayed in the highly-rated hotels. But I always felt like I was looking at Southeast Asia through a glass window.

Everything changed in the heart of Borneo. I found myself in a limestone cave bathed in a freakish, natural blue light, completely alone and silenced by the weight of the earth. In that moment, the “tourist” in me died. I realized that Southeast Asia isn’t just a destination; it’s a collection of liminal spaces, fever dreams, and ancient mysteries.

My Mission: Surreal Itineraries

My name is YY, and I am a surreal itinerary blogger. I don’t believe in “hidden gems”—I believe in otherworldly encounters. I’ve traded the well-trodden backpacker trail for the paths that make you question your senses. My work is dedicated to the traveler who wants more than a vacation; they want a glitch in their reality. I spend months on the ground in Southeast Asia mapping out routes that prioritize:

  • Atmospheric Architecture: From the “Hand of God” bridge in Vietnam to the psychedelic carvings of Thailand’s White Temple.
  • Liminal Landscapes: Locations that feel like the edge of the world, from the volcanic mists of Ijen to the silent, submerged forests of Cambodia.
  • Sensory Submersion: Experiences that blur the line between dream and wakefulness—neon-lit night markets, bioluminescent bays, and ritualistic ceremonies.

I believe travel should be an act of defamiliarization. Here is what you can expect from my guides:

  1. Slow, Deep Travel: We don’t rush. We wait for the light to hit the ruins just right.
  2. The Bizarre over the Basic: If there is a choice between a 5-star resort and a “haunted” colonial mansion in the jungle, we choose the mansion.
  3. Logistical Sanity: Even the most “unreal” trip needs a real plan. My itineraries include the exact bus routes, secret pin-drops, and local etiquette you need to survive.

Why Follow This Path?

Most travel blogs tell you how to get there. I want to tell you how it feels to be there.

If you are tired of the repetitive “top 10” lists and want to experience the ethereal, the bizarre, and the profoundly beautiful, you’ve found your tribe. I provide meticulously researched itineraries that blend logistical precision with poetic wonder. We aren’t just going on a trip. We are stepping through the looking glass.
